Jun 06, 2017 The Gen. 2A SSDs used by these MacBook Pro laptops were offered in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 768GB capacities, and manufactured again by Samsung, but also by SanDisk. Both the 13″ and 15″ MacBook Pro laptops use the same drives, and either MBP can have any of the four SSD capacities installed. IMac (Late 2012 - Early 2013). A software RAID is one that is managed by your Mac, though the disks can (and usually will be) in an external box. Until El Capitan, you could use Disk Utility to create a software-based RAID, as.
Comprehensive NVMe RAID Solutions
HighPoint manufactures a comprehensive selection of professional-grade, high-performance NVMe RAID Controllers, Enclosures and adapters for Apple's Mac hardware platforms and the macOS operating system. In addition, the majority of our PCIe NVMe RAID controllers are backwards compatible with older Mac workstations that utilize a classical tower layout. Unlike other NVMe RAID solutions in to today's marketplace, HighPoint NVMe RAID controllers and enclosures are backed by quarter-century of storage expertise. Our industry proven RAID stack enables us to incorporate enterprise class features into compact PCIe devices that can be easily installed into any modern desktop environment.
RAID 10 - Uncompromised Speed & Security
RAID 10 Delivers Maximum Performance with Data RedundancyUnique to HighPoint NVMe RAID solutions, is RAID 10, which is now featured by our bootable and non-bootable product series. RAID 10, delivers the best of both worlds – Maximum Performance and Data Security. A RAID 10 array is comprised of two RAID 0 sets, which are then mirrored to one another for security. RAID 10's delivers the performance of a stripe array while maintaining a hidden backup of your stored data.
Cross-Sync RAID Technology
Avaiable for SSD7101A-1 & SSD6540 SeriesHighPoint's ground-breaking Cross-Sync NVMe RAID Technology enables administrators to link two SSD7101A-1 or a pair of SSD6540 enclosures to act as a single RAID storage device. HighPoint Cross-Sync technology delivers blisteringly fast transfer performance; up to 28,000MB/s, while doubling NVMe storage capacity!
Comprehensive NVMe RAID Management
The Web RAID Management Interface (WebGUI) is a simple, intuitive web-based management tool and is ideal for customers who are new to RAID technology.
The CLI (command line interface) is a powerful, text-only management interface designed for advanced users and professional administrators.
Customers can easily track DWPD (Drive Writes Per Day), TBW (Terabytes Written) and the temperature of each individual NVMe SSD, ensure the SSD7000 controller is using the fastest available PCIe slot, configure an event log with email notification, and monitor the status of critical RAID configurations in person or remotely via an internet connection.
NVMe Cooling Solutions for Professional Applications
User Controlled Cooling Solution
The 2019 Mac Pro was designed for thermal efficiency. The innovative chassis ventilation and powerful cooling apparatus ensure your PCIe devices can operate at peak performance, free from the threat of overheating. HighPoint NVMe solutions capitalize on this design by offering an optional Silent Mode for the SSD7101A-1. Customers that require a working environment with minimal noise can now fully disable the controller's internal fan
Ultra-Efficient, Multi-Stage Cooling Solution
The 8-Port SSD7140 employs our new ultra-efficient, multi-stage cooling solution that combines a high-conductivity thermal pad with an anodized aluminum heatsink equipped with dual built-in, low noise fans. This design ensures the M.2 SSDs, NVMe chipset and RAID componentry remain cool, even under heavy load, while minimizing the risk of distraction in the work environment.
Distraction-Free, Zero-Noise Cooling Solution
The SSD7104 is ideal for high-performance media applications that require a distraction free work environment.
The SSD7104 can operate in complete silence, thanks to its full-length black anodized aluminum heat sink and ventilated full-height bracket, which work in conjunction to dissipate waste heat away from critical NVMe chipset componentry and the four hosted M.2 NVMe SSD's.
Mac Ssd Data Recovery
NVMe Cooling Accessories
Optional cooling solutions are aviable for select NVMe controllers.
HS8004F Cooling System - The HS8004F is avaiable for the SSD7104 controller, and combines a full-length anodized aluminum heat sink with an integrated cooling fan.
after installing the ifixit dual hd kit & creating the raid 0 [with the 2 ssd drives in disk utility]
- when restoring the boot drive to the raid this error shows *
'restore failure an error (32) occurred while copying. (Broken Pipe)'
please advise on any ideas of what's wrong
- already tried * different block sizes like 32k - 256k
- ssd drives are both Sandisk 256 gb Ultra Plus
Is this a good question?
Comments:
thanks for the reply
the 2 ssd drives are the same (sandisk ultra plus 256gb)
Ssd Raid Nas
- are you suggesting that if I transfer the boot partition to a faster drive before transfering to the ssd raid?

• [the boot partition is currently on a typical 500gb hard drive]
the plan is to switch from one 256gb ssd to two 256gb ssd drives in raid 0. the 2 ssd drives have previously been used as boot drives in the 2011 mac mini & early 2011 15' MBP
the 500 gb drive the mac mini came with is currently in use as a bootable backup.
RAID 0 stripes the data across the two devices. By design the I/O to the devices and the devices them selves need to be Matched as there is no way to buffer the write or the read if one device is slower or if the I/O to the device is slower in a RAID 0 setup. In this case the I/O path is not the same here as you are using the slower optical drives SATA connection. Other versions of the mini offer dual SATA ports that are the same speed and offer RAID 0 as an option (server models).
both drives identify as 6 gigabit on system report
